The ideal beach car, perfected to be unattainable: Officine Amarcord reworks the Spiaggina, electrifying it and equipping it with innovative materials.

Fiat500 Spiaggina, a real cult object, sought after and purchased by many VIPs of finance, entertainment or politics, such as Aristotele Onassis, Yul Brynner, Enrico Berlinguer, to be embarked on their yachts or for use as “golf cart “and in their real estate.

Realized on the mechanics of the Fiat Nuova 500 and later also on Autobianchi Giardiniera basis, it was one of the first projects of Sergio Sartorelli, just arrived at the technical direction of Ghia, after the release of Giovanni Savonuzzi. The car was quite expensive (it had a price almost double compared to a normal “500”) and was a cult object, sought after and bought by many VIPs of finance, entertainment or politics.

They were sold in the United States between 1958 and 1962 and in Europe between 1958 and 1965. Some specimens also reached South Africa between 1958 and 1960. The number of specimens produced are not known with certainty, the registers have been lost over the years as the Carrozzeria Ghia passed numerous properties until it became a trademark owned by Ford.

The cars included side shields and windshields, as a cover they simply had a sun protection awning (rather than a more classic convertible top) resting on a body of chrome pipes, the doors were totally absent and only in the “economic” version of 1965 were install unsightly chains. At the time of launch the available colors were: pink, white, pale yellow and blue sky. The mechanics had remained the original FIAT with the classic two-cylinder air-cooled.
